Tom Hanks Gives One Couple a Memorable Wedding Surprise

Oct 11, 2016

When you’re planning your nuptials, it’s likely that you’ll run into a few surprises. A few bumps in the road during the planning stages are to be expected, like not getting the exact date and time that you wanted from your first-choice venue or needing to reevaluate your budget. For one couple, though, their biggest wedding surprise was more welcomed.

Not everyone may be thrilled at the thought of some jogger photobombing their wedding photos in Central Park, but when that photobomber is Tom Hanks, it’s hard to be upset.

Wedding photographer Meg Miller was snapping shots of her subjects, newlyweds Elisabeth and Ryan, when she noticed Hanks, whom she didn’t recognize at first, jogging by. She put her camera down to let him get out of the shot, but Hanks didn’t keep running. Instead, he approached the couple.

After the actor introduced himself (“Hi, I’m Tom Hanks”), Miller picked her camera back up and shot some memorable photos for her clients’ wedding photo collection. She admits that she’s had some celebrity encounters during her photo shoots before, but never such a high-caliber celebrity as Tom Hanks. Hanks also snapped a selfie with Elisabeth and Ryan, which he later posted on Instagram.

Hanks also offered to officiate the couple’s wedding, as he’s an ordained minister. Had they not already wed, it’s possible that they may have considered it.

While you can’t exactly plan for a visit from Tom Hanks, you can plan the rest of your wedding details. So many details go into a wedding: the food, the flowers and decorations, invitations, and more, so why not make at least a couple of them easy?
