Planning Your Own Fabulous Galentine’s Day Soiree

Feb 2, 2016

We’re all familiar with Valentine’s Day, the much loved holiday dedicated to sharing love with your significant other. But for all the singletons out there, Valentine’s day can be a lonely and unhappy day, indeed. But luckily, Leslie Knope of the beloved television show Parks and Recreation managed to reclaim the Hallmark holiday in seasons two and four by creating the famed “Galentine’s Day.”

So what is Galentine’s Day, exactly? Galentine’s Day is defined as a celebration of your true loves – your gal pals. Traditionally, Galentine’s Day takes place on February 13, one day before Valentine’s Day, but it can be celebrated whenever you want.

Want to plan a Galentine’s Day of your own? Here’s how to make it fancy in some fine and simple steps:

The Decor

This celebration is all about feeling the love between yourself and your fellow gal pals. Things should look as snazzy as possible. The first step here is to pick a color scheme, and carry it out through your table linen rentals, balloons, and other accompanying party decorations. Design experts recommend that you choose three main colors, and carry out the theme using these. Considering the day in question, pinks, purples, and blues are always safe bets. However, since this is Galentine’s Day, the world is truly your oyster!

The Fare

Food doesn’t have to be a stressor at your Galentine’s soiree. In fact, it can be fun. The first thing you should focus on are your beverages. It’s best to keep it small, and pick only one kind of beverage, such as a themed cocktail or wine. But keep in mind that for every guest, you’ll need to account for two or three drinks. If this seems daunting, then just make it a BYOB kind of event.

For food, focus on elevated snacks, such as delicious dips, flatbreads, and handheld treats like cake pops. These will satisfy your guests and your budget!

The Setup

If you plan on having a large party, your living room couches certainly won’t be enough. To ensure there’s ample seating, invest in chair rentals and table rentals. Usually, you’ll be able to get linen rentals, tables, and chairs from the same company, which will streamline both the process and your costs for the party.

Get Groovy

Of course, what’s a Galentine’s Day bash without some fun-filled activities. One of the best ways to ensure that everyone has a blast is by pumping up the music and letting everyone groove to their favorite songs. If you are considering a tent rental, getting an outdoor dance floor rental is probably a good idea. Like the linen rental and chair rentals, you’ll likely be able to get all of these items from the same rental distributor.
